Israeli minister calls to annex West Bank

Israeli Education Minister and head of the Jewish Home party Naftali Bennett on Sunday called to annex Area C of the occupied West Bank, and giving the Palestinians “autonomy on steroids” in Areas A and B, Israeli YnetNews reported.

“We have already separated from the Palestinians, they are governing themselves,” he said. “My plan is to actually give the Palestinians a sort of autonomy on steroids in Areas A and B, while in Area C, we gradually start applying our sovereignty.”

He added: “I think the government has done a lot. I remind you there was a very intensive wave of terror attacks in Jerusalem and with the help of the government, this wave has definitely abated, and moved from Jerusalem to the Hebron-Gush Etzion area.”

Calling for the use of excessive force in order to crackdown on the Palestinian protests against Israeli violations across the occupied Palestinian territories, he said: “Look, we have been dealing with terrorism in Israel for 120 years, long before the state was founded, long before the Six-Day War [1967]. We’ve overcome this before.”
