An Israeli gunboat violated Lebanese territorial waters yesterday off Ras El-Naqoura in the south of the country, the army revealed.
“In a fresh violation of Lebanese sovereignty, an Israeli gunboat infiltrated Lebanese territorial waters today by about 300 metres off Ras El-Naqoura for two minutes,” the Lebanese news agency reported a statement by the Lebanese army saying.
“Coordination took place between the army and the United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL) to tackle the above-said violation,” it added.
The United Nations Security Council issued resolution number 1701 in 2006 putting an end to a 33- day Israeli war on Lebanon.
