The operation to evacuate civilians and fighters from Aleppo began yesterday as part of a ceasefire deal that would end years of fighting between Syrian regime forces and opposition armed groups, marking a major victory for Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad.
As Aleppo residents were being evacuated from the besieged, eastern part of the city, they left their mark on its walls.
The evacuation has since been halted.
