A Yemeni man who was convicted of raping and murdering a three-year old girl in Yemen was executed yesterday, Reuters reported.
Thousands of Yemeni people gathered in Tahrir Square to witness the public execution of 41-year-old Muhammad Al-Maghrabi. The police escorted the man to the centre of the square whilst the crowd shouted “Allahu Akbar”, God is the greatest.
Yahyah Al-Matari, the father of the victim, Rana Al-Matari, told reporters that he was satisfied and relieved after the execution.
Al-Maghrabi admitted to raping the girl in his hut to the south of the capital city on the first day of Eid Al-Fitr at the end of June.
