Asma Al-Assad, the wife of Syrian regime President Bashar Al-Assad, has been diagnosed with breast cancer, the Syrian presidency said in a statement on Facebook.
A picture of Asma accompanied by her husband while receiving treatment was released on Facebook with the caption: “With strength, confidence and faith…. First Lady Asma Al-Assad begins the first stage of treatment for malignant breast tumor discovered in early stages… The Republic’s presidency and the team working in it wish Ms. Asma a speedy recovery.”
London-born Asma is 43 years old and has three children. She is being treated in a military hospital in Damascus.
