Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi yesterday held a phone call with his Israeli counterpart, Isaac Herzog, during which they discussed “bilateral relations and files of common interest.”
The Egyptian presidency said in a statement that the two leaders discussed “efforts to revive Palestinian-Israeli peace talks,” adding that Al-Sisi had congratulated Herzog on his recent “assumption to office.”
In a similar context, the Israeli Kan broadcaster reported that Egypt was preparing to resume indirect contacts between Israel and Hamas regarding a prisoner exchange deal after the Jewish holidays.
