The Israeli army yesterday fired flares along the northern border with Lebanon over suspicion of an infiltration attempt.
Local Channel 12 reported that the infiltration was by a “person who was fleeing for Lebanon,” adding that the Israeli intelligence was working “to identify the person and his background.”
“The event has put the forces in a state of very high alert,” military sources told the local channel.
Israel and Lebanon do not have diplomatic relations. The Israeli military and Lebanon’s Hezbollah fought a devastating war in 2006.
